What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
Empowerment. Empowering the Learner, the Fanau et al. Empowering Learner to not just be a User of Technology, but also a Creator of " Digital Technology." If something is not "visible" to the Learner then it is Disempowering.

Clicking and having fun in Virtual Reality; 3-D diagrams/imaging . Confidence Building
What did I learn that could be used with my learners or immediately use in my Practice?
I like the idea of 5 "Ping-Pong" Conversations. I have a lot of Learners that do not have good 'conversational skills'. I would like to try this method to see how long they can focus on one topic of conversation. i.e. how many "ping-pongs we can have before our conversation is lost.

Historically, schools connected for Competitions. Now, (and including Manaiakalani Kaupapa), we connect to be a Collaborative Learning Community. It is a Powerful Network. It emcompasses "Sharing." To "Share", you need a two-way Connection.
Connecting through Blogging. Google Hangouts, Live Chats etc.

What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life
I am quite keen in purchasing a "hand-held gimble" to attach to my i-phone. My videos leave a lot to be desired, and this 'gizmo' may help.
Made a new Playlist. Have to give my husband a new g-mail account etc., so he is not sharing mine.
And HEAPS in the afternoon.
Now I am going to have a go at creating a "Pick a Path" Story for my Struggling Readers. I will probably have different Levels ready for next year, as an interesting (and different) way into Reading. Watch this space!👀😊
I had a GREAT day today. Thanks everyone!!!👍👍😊😉

I'm learning something new everyday.Just DOING and practising.
DFI. 21st October Analogy- A bit of Reflective Thinking.
I liken my huge IT journey to one of my children struggling to read. My children get the opportunity to have 1:1 support twice a week, from me. But it must seem like a frustratingly long time between help.
I know that I feel frustrated with the once a week support. I know that I could probably ask for help from other professionals, but they are busy teachers, and have their own work to do.
I feel like I am making huge steps in my Learning Journey., and am trying to practise between Workshops.... but my knowledge of suitable apps is limited... ie I have all these "strategies" now, but which one is the "right one" to use??? Do I try them all until I find one that fits, like I ask a child to do in Reading? Sitting right beside the child at the moment s/he gets stuck, I can supply just the right amount of scaffolding right then and there. I don't have that luxury with my IT Journey, so sure it's frustrating at times. Maybe I need to practise more patience and perseverance...
What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
Manaikalani embraces Visual Learning. The whole Learning Journey should be visible. There should be no surprises for the Learner. It isn't about 20 questions and "The Answer is in MY head-it's what I am thinking." Words triggered my thinking like:- Communication; Collaborative; Interactive Learning.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
All sorts of new tricks:- using "Snipping Tool" with ease; getting into and using Google Draw a lot faster; and building up my Website. A lot of information on different pages.
What did I learn that could be used with my learners or immediately use in my Practice?
Just getting more confident and using different apps and tools that I didn't know existed before.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
I am getting a lot more confident. I am remembering how to do more "stuff" independently. I am trying not to panic and randomly press buttons. I like the Manaiakalani philosophy as it sits well with my own. It is a comfortable place for me.
Got into the Multi-Choice Units Tests during the holidays. Managed to get through them all. One unit, not very successful, but all the others O.K.
Also tried the Site Challenge; but it took me longer than 5 minutes. Didn't want to e-mail it to Dorothy yet. Would like Venessa or Kerry to check it first.
Didn't create anything else during holidays. Looking forward to getting back into it.
I Lost my DFI #4. Pressed too many buttons. Looks like I have deleted it forever. What a silly person... Remember to THINK before you press buttons. DON't PANIC!!!
As I lost my DFI#4 Blog, I thought that I would try to remember parts of it.
What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
Once again I found Dorothy's "Words of Wisdom" very inspiring. It is easy for me to assimilate into my thinking because I feel I hold the same beliefs and values. Love the "asides."
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
I found parts of today very hard to get my head around. I found multi-modal Learning Sites and Multi Text Data Bases quite new concepts for me. I felt that I couldn't really contribute because I hadn't had any experience with either of them. [Something else that I need to delve deeper into.] I felt a bit inadequate. I enjoyed thinking about my "Site", and had good ideas of what I wanted to put into my site.
What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
I am getting more confident with Blogging. Now, instead of just helping my students with the content of their Blog, [i.e. the writing], I can now help them insert images/ pictures/photos and POST it.I also don't need the teacher to open up the student's Blog for 'us.' I can help the student open up their own Blog- i.e. I know where and how to find it.
More confident around devices... They will become essential, everyday tools that will make my life easier

DFI #2. What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy? Awesome thinking is going in behind this Professional Learning Journey that you are taking me on. I like the analogies too.. It sits well with my thinking What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional? Today I felt a lot more comfortable. I still have a lot of new Learning to do, but at least I am getting faster around the screen and keyboard. Have just changed Font, 'cause I didn't like what it had. Have to remember about the + button (top right) and the dots (right also). Am learning about Hanging Out. (digitally) What did I learn that could be used with my learners? It was more about personal Learning today. When I become more confident and navigate my way around things better, I will work out how I can work it into my teaching.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life? Got my blog linked to share. May receive a few comments now Getting there. Just found the Closing Karakia. Didn't quite manage to get there last week.
